These Premium kits are assembled by us in the UK with our CG by Jupiter Paper-in-Oil capacitors to give a warmer woody tone, CTS “CGS” SupraPots in the volume position to retain tone and note definition as you roll down the volume to give a more natural control and CTS "CG" for the tone controls.   We then sort through our potentiometers to create matched sets to give you an even response when rolling down your volume and tone controls.

The Vintage/Modern Upgrade Kit offers a warmer, woody tone on the Bridge pickup, and a more transparent, dynamic sound on the Neck pickup.  Are you happy with your Bridge pickup's tone, but your Neck pickup is too muddy? Your Neck pickup is perfect, but your Bridge pickup is too bright?  Then the Vintage/Modern Kite is the solution.   Warmer tones for the Bridge pickup, and more clarity for the Neck pickup, this is the perfect solution for guitars that need that little extra. 

This is a prewired harness for USA Gibson Les Paul's.  For guitars with metric sized pots you may need to enlarge the holes for the higher quality US spec electronics to fit and also you may need US Spec knobs.

The value and taper of the volume controls is particularly important with Humbucker equiped guitars as they are more mid to low end focus and so when you roll down the volume the tone can get dark quickly.  Our "CGS" SupraPots are never below the nominal value and mostly in the +10% range and the custom taper means that the top end clarity is retained so there is no need for a treble bleed.  We select the higher values for the neck volume and tone controls and then balance them with the bridge controls to retain the tone of your guitar.

What is Balanced Tone:

We like to wire this type of harnes with a .015uf capacitor in the neck position and a 0.022uf in the bridge position because we find that a less aggressive tone control on the neck pickup offers an improved balance of the tone controls.  If you prefer the standard 0.022uf capacitors in both positions just select this from the drop down menu below.
